Oil being restricted to Government use only, shutting down access even to shipping, plastic manufacturers, and many other industries our nation's people depend upon is deplorable.  Without shipping companies being able to transport key commodities, such as food, medication, medical supplies, etc., people are going to riot, crime is going to skyrocket, and people will start looting stores, before ultimately preying upon their neighbors for coveted goods.  Plastic manufacturers won't be able to continue production on important products, medical grade plastics, for example.  I see nothing good coming of this and it will not only affect my way of life, but the entire nation's, save for that small percentage in the uppermost tax bracket.  The anti-gun populace will eventually be wholly dependent upon the rest of the civilians who support the second amendment right to bear arms.

Being expected to pay $10.00 per gallon at the pump for regular unleaded is absolutely ludicrous.  Being expected to pay so much so I can buy groceries and diapers, or attend classes is just not something I can do.  As a mother of three children (all in diapers), I just can't afford it, especially now that I am the only one with an income in my household as my husband recovers from his multiple surgeries.  I live in a small rural farming community where we don't even have a grocery store and walking isn't an option, as the next town over is much too far for that.  I cannot safely ride a bicycle with all three of my children to get groceries, nor would a bike be feasible transport to get me to and from school, as I'd have to leave the night prior to make it to class the next morning.  I blame the price hike in our own government's corporate interests.  I don't know what alternatives there would be for someone in my particular situation.  I know public transport is not available in my area and I don't know anyone that I could carpool with.  I would obviously have to figure out a solution to at least buy groceries, but I would have to drop out of school all together, or be limited to online only courses in which our tests and quizzes were available online as well.  I know of many online vendors I could purchase household necessities and diapers from.  There are grocery stores that deliver, but none in my area, so food seems to be the only impossibility.

In light of the latest developments with the OSD, I am still rather unimpressed.  Although some businesses are willing to accept the OSD as the USD, it still bars Oregon residents from spending their hard earned money as they see fit (legally, of course).  I don't think Oregonians should be locked into shopping primarily at the establishments willing to accept the OSD.  I feel as if this is a political move made by persons who have a stockholder interest in the corporations who are clearing the Oregon State Dollar as an acceptable increment of payment.

Although Oregon residents are given the opportunity to choose how much they receive in payment in the form of OSD and USD, the fact that they are still required to accept a minimum of 20% of their paycheck in the form of the Oregon State Dollar is ridiculous.  That isn't really giving Oregon workers an option, but instead, hijacks 20% of said workers' paychecks.  I understand the want to boost Oregon's economy, but this is definitely not the way to go about doing so.
